Bishop San Diego was the first Filipino Bishop of what was then the Apostolic Vicariate of Palawan which has now "ceased to exist" and has become the Apostolic Vicariate of Taytay (Palawan) with His Excellency, Most Reverend Edgardo S. Juanich, D.D., as Vicar Apostolic and the Apostolic Vicariate of Puerto Princesa with His Excellency, Most Reverend Pedro D. Arigo, D.D., as Vicar Apostolic.
